Category Review: Books on Violence and Crime As someone who enjoys reading books on violence and crime, I have to say that this category is quite diverse. From murder mysteries to self-defense manuals, there's something for everyone in this genre. In my opinion, the best books in this category are those that combine a strong plot with well-researched information about real-life crimes and violence. One of my favorite books in this category is "The Death of Superman" by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. This classic comic book tells the story of the death of one of the most iconic superheroes of all time, and explores themes such as grief, loss, and the search for meaning in a world without heroes. The artwork is stunning, and the writing is both thought-provoking and engaging. Another great book in this category is "Cause of Death: A Writer's Guide to Death, Murder and Forensic Medicine" by Dr. Richard Shepherd. This non-fiction book provides a detailed look at the science behind death and murder, as well as the forensic techniques used to solve crimes. It's fascinating to learn about the different ways that people can die, and how investigators use this information to piece together the events leading up to a crime. I also enjoy books on self-defense, such as "Watch Out for the Pointy End: Knife Defence Manual." This book provides practical advice on how to defend yourself against knife attacks, including tips on disarming an attacker and using your surroundings to your advantage. The writing is clear and concise, making it easy to understand even for those with no prior experience in self-defense. In addition to these more serious books, I also enjoy lighter reads such as "Falling For Him" by Jill Mansfield. This romantic comedy tells the story of a woman who falls for her boss, but must navigate the challenges of their very different personalities and backgrounds. It's a fun read with plenty of humor and heart, making it a great escape from reality. Overall, I think that books on violence and crime are an important genre to explore. They can help us understand the world around us better, as well as provide entertainment and inspiration.
