Review: The Brokenwood Mysteries is a television series that follows the lives of two detectives who solve mysteries in the small town of Brokenwood. The show has been running for several seasons and has become one of my favorite shows to watch. In this review, I will discuss each season of the show and provide my thoughts on them. Season 1: The first season of The Brokenwood Mysteries is a great introduction to the characters and the setting of the show. It introduces us to Detective Mike Shepherd and his partner, Detective Stuart Oliphant, who are tasked with solving a series of murders in Brokenwood. The season also introduces us to some of the other main characters, such as Katy Sorell and Dana Whitlock. The mysteries in this season are well-crafted and keep you on the edge of your seat. The show does a great job of building suspense and keeping viewers guessing until the very end. The acting is top-notch, with each character portrayed perfectly by their respective actors. Overall, Season 1 is a solid start to this excellent series. Season 2: The second season of The Brokenwood Mysteries takes place two years after the events of Season 1. Detective Shepherd has moved on from Brokenwood and is now working as a private investigator in Wellington. However, he is called back to Brokenwood when a murder occurs that bears all the hallmarks of his old partner's style. This season introduces some new characters, such as Detective Nick Vaughan, who becomes Shepherd's temporary replacement while he is in Brokenwood. The mysteries in this season are just as good as those in Season 1 and keep you on the edge of your seat. The acting is once again top-notch, with each character portrayed perfectly by their respective actors. Overall, Season 2 is a great follow-up to Season 1 and continues to build upon the characters and storylines established in that season. Season 3: The third season of The Brokenwood Mysteries takes place three years after the events of Season 2. Detective Shepherd has returned to Brokenwood permanently and is now working as a detective there. This season introduces some new characters, such as Detective Katy Sorell, who becomes Shepherd's partner. The mysteries in this season are once again well-crafted and keep you on the edge of your seat. The show does a great job of building suspense and keeping viewers guessing until the very end. The acting is once again top-notch, with each character portrayed perfectly by their respective actors. Overall, Season 3 is another excellent season that continues to build upon the characters and storylines established in previous seasons. Season 4: The fourth season of The Brokenwood Mysteries takes place a year after the events of Season 3. Detective Shepherd has retired from the police force and is now working as a private investigator. However, he is called back to Brokenwood when a murder occurs that bears all the hallmarks of his old partner's style. This season introduces some new characters, such as Detective Nick Vaughan, who becomes Shepherd's temporary replacement while he is in Brokenwood. The mysteries in this season are just as good as those in previous seasons and keep you on the edge of your seat. The acting is once again top-notch, with each character portrayed perfectly by their respective actors. Overall, Season 4 is another great follow-up to Season 3 and continues to build upon the characters and storylines established in that season. Season 5: The fifth and final season of The Brokenwood Mysteries takes place a year after the events of Season 4. Detective Shepherd has retired from private investigating and is now living a quiet life in Brokenwood. However, he is called back into action when a murder occurs that bears all the hallmarks of his old partner's style. This season introduces some new characters, such as Detective Katy Sorell, who becomes Shepherd's temporary replacement while he is in Brokenwood. The mysteries in this season are once again well-crafted and keep you on the edge of your seat. The show does a great job of building suspense and keeping viewers guessing until the very end. The acting is once again top-notch, with each character portrayed perfectly by their respective actors. Overall, Season 5 is a fitting finale to this excellent series.
