Category: Education and Learning Resources As a parent of a sixth-grade student, I am always looking for ways to help my child succeed academically. That's why I was excited to try out these education and learning resources designed specifically for preparing students for the SBAC tests. The first resource I tried was the 6th Grade Math Common Core Practice Book and Full-length Online Assessments: Smarter Balanced Study Guide With Performance Task (PT) and Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT). This resource provided my child with a comprehensive review of the math concepts covered in the Common Core curriculum. The practice book included a variety of questions that tested my child's understanding of these concepts, while the full-length online assessments allowed her to simulate what she would experience on the actual SBAC test. One thing I appreciated about this resource was the inclusion of performance tasks (PT). These are longer, more complex assignments that require students to apply their knowledge in a real-world context. By including PTs in the practice book, my child was able to develop her critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which will be valuable on the SBAC test and beyond. Another resource I tried was the 6th Grade CALIFORNIA CAASPP, MATH, Test Prep: 2019. This resource provided my child with a detailed review of the math concepts covered in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) test. The study guide included explanations of each concept, as well as practice problems to help my child master them. One thing I appreciated about this resource was its focus on test-taking strategies. The study guide provided my child with tips for answering different types of questions on the CAASPP test, such as multiple choice and open-ended questions. By learning these strategies, my child was better prepared to take the actual test and achieve a high score. I also tried out the SBAC Grade 6 Math: Smarter Balanced (Smarter Balanced Series). This resource provided my child with a comprehensive review of the math concepts covered in the Common Core curriculum, as well as practice problems to help her master them. The full-length online assessments allowed her to simulate what she would experience on the actual SBAC test. One thing I appreciated about this resource was its inclusion of computer adaptive testing (CAT). CAT is a type of assessment that adjusts the difficulty level of questions based on the student's performance, making it more efficient and accurate than traditional paper-and-pencil tests. By including CAT in the practice assessments, my child was able to get a better sense of how the actual SBAC test would be structured and what types of questions she could expect. Another resource I tried was the 6th Grade California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress MATH Test prep/study guide. This resource provided my child with a detailed review of the math concepts covered in the CAASPP test, as well as practice problems to help her master them. The study guide also included explanations of each concept, which helped my child develop a deeper understanding of the material.
